It is held securely in place with lockstitch, channel quilting. The sides of the mattress pad are made of cotton/polyester blended fabric - not that flimsy, fibrous stuff! The bottom has 1/2 inch elastic sewn into the hem all the way around, so the mattress pad fits snugly on your mattress. We take extra care to reinforce the corner seams and make this mattress pad to fit a crib mattress 5 to 7 inches thick. Easy to care for! Machine washable and tumble dry low. No shrinkage!
